Laser marking is a permanent, non-contact, flexible way to identify machined parts with custom characters, logos, sequential part numbers, etc. Laser Marking can be used to mark the most sensitive materials without damage or stress to the part.
As no tooling is required, changes can be made quickly and without added expense. The ability to incorporate designs from CAD and graphic systems ensures that the visual impact of the mark is per the original design. Our CO2 lasers can mark anodized aluminum, many plastics, & most painted surfaces.
With a special process we are able to mark non coated stainless steel, aluminum, brass, copper, nickel, silver, and titanium. Marks made with this process are permanent. They are generally considered as tough as the metal they are made on. Physical testing has shown them to be resistant to many common strong acids, bases, organic solvents and extreme heat or cold. It also has good salt spray resistance, scratch resistance and QUV resistance. Marks made with this process have been examined by a scanning electron microscope and have been found to be approximately 10 0.0004 inches (0.4 mil) high.
